Review of Whisky Galore! (1949) by Jean R — 29 Mar 2012
This was one of my mother's favorite movies (she was in her mid-20's when it was originally exhibited). It has a very clever plot, is well-acted, and is very funny in a low-key way. I enjoyed this film, especially for its glimpse into the world of Scotland sixty years ago.
Be warned, though, that the pace is quite slow by modern movie standards. You should be ready to relax and take it easy while watching. Won't be enjoyable to those craving lots of explosions and car chases (there is only one car chase).
