Review of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016) by Ette S — 02 Jul 2016
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is a memoir of following a journalist, who always covered low stories and is taking on the leap of being a war correspondent. It is a biographical war comedy film, at times it goes over the serious issue and have some humor thrown in it. Tina Fey did a great job, portraying as Kim, a journalist that was not going nowhere with her stories that she was always assigned too. Until, she was as assigned to go to Afghanistan. Her boyfriend was not happy with the choice, as they barely see each other cause of his traveling job. Once in Afghanistan, she meets an Australian correspondent Tanya (Margot Robbie) and a freelancer photographer Iain (Martin Freeman).
Director Glenn Ficarra and John Requa managed to pull off a well direction of balancing a dramatic story with humor tossed in to lighten the mood of the film. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is a good drama war story, with awesome performances from Tina fey.
