This is so far from reality. If you are a jazz musician or teacher you would find this movie atrocious. I happen to be both. First of all, no drummer can play well with as much physical tension as Neyman and if did they would have severe tendonitis.

Really, matching tempo is about the easiest thing one can do in music.
