Review of While We're Young (2015) by Peter F — 03 Apr 2015
Noah Baumbach's latest is probably his most commercially viable film to date, but it's attachment to the conventional proves ultimately harmful. The film is strongest in it's first two-thirds, which make funny inferences towards generational gaps, and the ethics of aging.
Unfortunately, the film's message doesn't stick the landing for it's final act, which finds Ben Stiller's character as an even more repellent fellow than Greenberg. To be fair, all of it's story-lines do find a way to gel at the end, just not in a way that proves overly interesting.
