Review of Where the Truth Lies (2005) by Isobel Kate S — 05 Apr 2012
A lovingly shot movie with plenty of visual flare and stylishness that cannot hide the fact the central conceit is just so thin. A murder from differing and incomplete perspectives is either annoying or intriguing.
. but oddly here its almost indifferent due to the lack of actual information given to the audience. Raunchy scenes are tastefully done but feel cheap when they seem to drive rather than support the story.
A somewhat Deus Ex ending crumbles by finally doling out all the information that might have added depth a full hour earlier. Good editing of the story could have made this hugely entertaining but the poor plot kills the vision.
