Review of Where the Truth Lies (1999) by Chris W — 12 May 2009
In a good cast, Kevin Bacon is the standout,in a twisted, very very dark story from Egoyan.Filmed in old school Hollywood gloss,it evokes a weird, dreamlike atmosphere.Script could be a little tighter, but from the start the mystery is intriguing enough to keep you watching to the end, while the sex scenes(very graphic)manage to convey the sleazy side of showbusiness without seming expolitative.
A better ending would have helped, but this remains interesting stuff.Good to see Firth playing against type too.
