Review of Where the Buffalo Roam (1980) by Timothy K — 27 Nov 2008
A very interesting take of only a fraction of Hunter S. Thompson's career. The movie in itself is more of a farce and is much more of a comedy than a biography. Bill Murray portrayed Thompson very well...and pretty funny. Although I hardly laughed out loud, I still found this film rather enjoyable and entertaining. I think it's because Hunter S. Thompson's life was filled with all the wack and bizzare, I felt very comfortable watching and accepting the films craziness and lack of emotion. Murray's adaption of the character was more down to earth than Depps. And Peter Boyle stole the show, including at the films end.
It's a very different/interesting, but yet entertaining film. Watch it and then you decide.
