Review of Where Eagles Dare (1968) by Miikka O — 18 Feb 2008
Yeah, this movie is from the era when there were no multi-million dollar CGIs available to backup a movie, which would not have been a decent one without. Where Eagles Dare is an old-school action and adventure film, beautifully shot and the story is interesting as well.
Eastwood is obviously cool as usual and so is Richard Burton. Naturally, time has taken some toll, but good films like this are timeless. Running over 2.5 hours, it still is really entertaining and surprisingly intense.
Maybe not for everybody, but for Eastwood and classic war films fans definitely something to look into.
