Review of Where Eagles Dare (1968) by Ryan Gibbons — 03 Jul 2010
Clint Eastwood running around in a castle killing everybody, well it was pretty fun to watch. This may be when the nothing but action genre was formed this movie has very little plot and absolutely no character development and for some reason I loved every minute of it.
Clint Eastwood basically plays his western character a perfect gunslinger who's basically invisible, it's the kind of movie where one guy has a standoff with 50 people and he kills them all because he's the hero.
It's got the typical story guy killed, accident, and then it dosen't explain it, at times it felt like a 60's detective show. I will say that it is very well shot, the mountains in the background were a very nice touch, it's fun to watch but after the second car chase it got old, I just wanted it to be over the movie could of easily ended towards the end when their all driving away towards wherever they were going but of course they had to have the extra car chase.
