Review of Where Eagles Dare (1968) by Corey N — 02 Oct 2010
This is a movie from writer Alistair MacLean who is best known for movies such as "Guns of Navarone" and "Force 10 from Navarone". The film stars Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. Basic plot is a group of allied commandos must break out a American General before he can give the Nazi's any info.
But not all is as it seems with this mission. This is a pure fun adventure film. Full of action, explosions, guns, intrigue and suspense. The film story is your typical pulp adventure novel theme to it but it works for this film.
The acting is okay overall as well. Nothing outrageous from the cast. The action sequences are a bit long but is typical for a Alistair MacLean novel movie. Not as good as other movies from his novels but still worth a watch for any fan of WWII adventure capers.
