Review of When Trumpets Fade (1998) by Dustin — 23 Jun 2008
One of my favorite war movies. Though its screenplay is a parade of cliches, the directing fairly uninspired, and the budget obviously on the low end (it's a made-for-TV movie), the story and acting - practically a wishlist of indie icons - make it shine.
Manages to effortlessly be both a serious tribute to soldiers and a cynical commentary on a soldier's duty to his country. Ron Eldard is great in the lead role.
