Review of When a Stranger Calls (2006) by Sophie P — 07 Jun 2012
If it were solely because it brutally tests your patience that I believed this movie isn't quite up to the mark, then, I wouldn't have despised it as savagely as I do. Some movies do tend to test your patience beyond a certain threshold but they nonetheless manage to add some value to your overall viewing experience and this might happen in countless ways.
In the case of this miserable film, however, the very opposite of entertainment is what is delivered to viewers. The fundamental flaw here lies in the script itself, which is, at best, suitable for a TV adaptation in an obscure B-grade thriller series.
It would hence be highly unfair not to either appreciate the chutzpah of or mock the short-sightedness of the producers who put such enormous trust in the bankability of the script. All said and done, When A Stranger Calls is an indescribably horrible way to spend an hour and a half of your life.
