Review of When a Stranger Calls (2006) by Shawn S — 10 Aug 2012
Caught this movie the other night on some movie channel, and I must say I enjoyed it much more this time around. I think this is the kind of movie that would have been better off being a direct to dvd movie as in a movie theater experience people are just too rude and obnoxious and you don't get a real feel for the movie.
Yes Camilla Belle's acting is horrible to say the least but I think this is actually intentional. I think Jill is meant to be awkward, but maybe I am wrong. Really hard to consider this a complete remake as It really only takes the first 20 minutes of the original film and turns it into the whole story, which I think worked better for this movie, able to build more suspense and what not.
Not a bad movie for the audience it was targeting, the only problem is I think it's target audience wasn't smart enough to appreciate the film for what it was and I liked that it didn't have to rely on nothing but gore and violence.
