Review of What's New Pussycat? (1965) by Todd P — 16 Jun 2009
Very disappointing and not very funny, especially since so much comic talent (Woody Allen, Peter O'Toole, Peter Sellers) and hot chicks (Ursula Andress and Romy Schneider) went to waste. This might have been funny when it came out in 1965, but now it's mostly of interest for the swinging 60s haircuts and clothes (which must have had an influence on the Austin Powers franchise three decades later) plus the classic Tom Jones theme song.
Woody Allen was clearly cutting his teeth here and obviously went on to better (and funnier) things.
