This was far better than I'd expected. The writing is good (shocker, eh?) and quite funny, and I found the characters charming, despite their numerous quirks and imperfections. In addition, the film has some real insights about life and how best to live in the world we're stuck with.
It's about time Woody broke the 4th wall again! It strikes me that people who bag on him these days are reviewing the movies they wish he'd made instead of what he's actually done. While this isn't as good as "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," it's certainly something to shake a stick at.
