Review of What We Do in the Shadows (2014) by Kristi M — 15 Nov 2015
I kept putting off watching this because I wasn't exactly sure what I would be in for and this exceeded what I expected. It's a mashup of Being Human and Real World that takes vampire lore and spins it into routines that normal humans might do but with vampire flair.
If you haven't seen Bram Stoker's Dracula you'll miss some of the funniest jokes but since I have it I rolled at some of the unexpected references I also read that the youngest vampire got mad that he didn't sparkle and they cut it, which I would have loved to see.
This could have really gone overboard but they managed to keep it just clever and silly enough to make me laugh out loud without it feeling forced. It's also insanely quote-able. "Don't eat the Biscetti!".
