Review of What We Do in the Shadows (2014) by Iain B — 09 Feb 2017
A 'shockumentary' comedy about four vampires in a sharehouse and their- largely nocturnal- habits. The humour of Jermaine Clement is both brilliantly original and heavily understated. Not always as funny and rewarding as it deserves to be.
The opening scene of a digital alarm clock going off and a decrepit hand reaching out of a coffin to turn it off sets the darkly humourous tone for the movie. I liked the way each character in the house was fleshed out, so to speak, and the inclusion of Rhys Darby and his gang of werewolves led to some funny confrontations.
