Review of What Maisie Knew (2013) by Paul D — 13 Jan 2014
Review:
I wasn't that impressed with this movie. It's extremely slow and quite boring in parts. I did feel sorry for the girl who has 2 really inconsiderate parents who have broken up. The little girl who plays the main character, does light up the screen with her great performance, but they should have brought in other elements to keep the story interesting. Don't get me wrong, I did care about what was going to happen to the main character, but it seems to get a bit repetitive. In all, it's a deep drama with an average storyline. Average!
Round-Up:
Steve Coogan is really covering every aspect in his acting career. After being the idiot in his Alan Partridge movie, he has gone full circle with this role, but he's hardly in the movie. Julianne Moore is playing the same type of role that she does in a lot of her movies, but it's the little girl that put the adults to shame. I can understand what the director was trying to portray with the film, but he really needed to make it more interesting with some twists or at least a unpredictable ending.
Budget: $6million.
Worldwide Gross: $1million.
I recommend this movie to people who are into there emotional dramas about a little girl who is in the middle of a couple breakup. 4/10.
