Review of What Maisie Knew (2013) by C T — 01 Aug 2014
I approach any movie with a child actor as the lead with skepticism, but this movie was surprisingly great. Onata Aprile gave a shockingly emotional and touching performance as Maisie, and at times I forgot her character was a six year old kid based on how she dealt with her family and surroundings.
I wouldn't say anyone else really stood out as anything above fair, but the conflict between the characters and their responses to their situations felt very plausible, if not always genuine or realistic.
Overall, this is a great movie that will make you laugh and consider what it means to be a parent.
