Review of What Just Happened (2008) by Peter I — 04 Mar 2010
Since this is based on Art Linson's memoir I feel like it would have been better for it to be more of a biting satire. Instead it feels like it's a nicer version of what it could have been. Perhaps they production company was forcing the producer to keep it fair? However, Art Linson is a great producer and it was interesting to see what is quite possibly what it's like to live a couple of weeks in his shoes.
In that sense, it reminds me of 8 1/2. Unfortunately the film never really feels like it goes anywhere, but it was highly entertaining. I thought it was funny how they even made it seem like Ben was living in a movie within itself, the way he had music that best fit what he was going through.
Now all I want to do is see The Player even more.
