Many of Pedro Almodovar's familiar themes all originate in this early flawed masterpiece about a pillhead housewife, who sells her youngest son to a pedophilic dentist, hangs out with her prostitute neighbor, kills her brutish husband and tries not to kill her eldest son's pet iguana or her soap opera loving mother-in-law.
Features a great performance from the fabulous Carmen Maura.
