Review of What a Way to Go! (1964) by Bill B — 15 Jan 2012
Shirley MacLaine is sublime in this comedy about a woman in pursuit of a husband and the simple life. She has four husbands [Van Dyke, Newman, Mitchum and Kelly all in delightful roles], but fame and ultimate death seems to find each one as she tells the story to her psychiatrist.
Every bit as enchanting as the movie are Edith Head's costume designs for MacLaine. Just beautiful. Dean Martin in a role that won't surprise but still be enjoyed as well.
