Review of Wetlands (2013) by Dan R — 21 Sep 2014
Obscenely disturbing. The two words running through my head more times than the protagonist's fingers, sticky with grime, made their way into her mouth. ?#?Wetlands? carelessly tip toes on the line between nausea and eroticism. However, it hits home on both. My stomach rarely uncoiled from the mess of disgusted anxiety as the 18 year old detached esprit libre indifferently participates in painfully graphic scenarios. Yet, please don't disregard the drug induced flashbacks into a childhood made rotten by the cruel morals and utter indifference of her parentage. "Trust no one. Not even your parents," - Mom. Yesh. It's been a long time since I've been awakened to the polar oddities that exist in society. This movie does it unabashedly. Not only did I walk out sickly addled but I felt oddly refreshed by an onslaught of emotions I rarely encounter. The movie stings and you feel it.
Check it out and be ready to cringe shudder and whelp in your seat.
