Review of Westworld (1973) by Annie M — 05 Nov 2007
This movie's still creepy. Technology run amok. Yul Brynner stars in this Michael Crichton film from '73 when the computer age was in it's infancy, and A.I. was only in sci-fi. It's a theme park where robots help simulate the wild wild west for the guests with bar fights, gun fights, prostitution, but nobody gets hurt, until the robots malfunction and the Yul Brynner cowboy becomes an unstoppable machine.
You'll laugh at all the archaic "futuristic" technology, but it'll still freak you out. The last thing you want when you're on vacation is a pissed-off robotic Yul Brynner hunting you down across a desert, six shooters blazing.
Scary,campy fun.
