Review of Westworld (1973) by Jesse B — 29 Nov 2008
I have to say this is an oldie but a goodie :P I was really impressed, even in the early 70s, how accurate and realistic this movie was.
Now don't get me wrong, there are liberties taken....like why would you A) program the robots to ever even shoot a gun, I mean they aren't allowed to shoot at humans, so why should they be programmed to even know how to pull the trigger, and B) even if you did give them that ability, why the hell would you give them guns with real bullets?? Silly right?
But, look beyond that....the real point of the movie was something completely different. And like I said, Michael Crichton was a genius, he really made sure this movie sounded smart and seemed genuine.
Definitely a sci-fi classic.
