Review of Were the World Mine (2008) by Jeremy C — 09 Apr 2009
I wanted to like this film... I really really did, but it just suffered from a script that wasn't quite developed enough. The main character, Timothy was a victim from start to finish. Victims can be enduring characters on film, but they can easily come across as powerless and spoiled.
If Timothy had been trying hard to do something GOOD in the world, but was continually thwarted by the homophobic jocks in school, I could have routed for him, but as is Timothy is hard to like; I had trouble empathizing with his character; I didn't really care if he failed or succeeded.
