Review of Were the World Mine (2008) by Brandon T — 08 Jul 2009
I tried to like this movie. I did. It had some good tunes and any movie about Shakespeare I tend to appreciate, but this film really plays like High School Musical for the LoGo set for the first 2/3 and then becomes some kind of weird homosexual reimagining of A Midsummer Night's Dream. I couldn't tell if it was the script or the acting at times that made me cringe, but I really didn't find much to enjoy in this film because it didn't really make much sense.
I mean, the musical numbers were really rather creative, and whoever wrote the score did a really good job, but most of the rest of the film was weak.
But then again, I doubt I was the intended audience for this film.
