Review of Werckmeister Harmonies (2001) by Joanna N — 18 Oct 2007
Interesting concept and plot but poorly executed. Tarr's penchant for prolonged fixed shots is aggravating and breaks up the flow of the plot. Every scene is 10 times longer than it need be resulting in a lengthy, fragmented film with reduced impact.
I would have liked to see more development of the characters and plot and less gaping expanses of pointless, pretentious repetition. Elements of greatness are drowned by these irritating passages.
