Review of Wendy and Lucy (2008) by Campbell K — 04 Jan 2009
Gorgeous and slow, I can't say enough about how quietly deliberate and how real this whole film feels. michelle williams should be receiving an academy award, but will have to do with a nomination for her portrayal of a woman trying to change her luck with a job and ends up at the bottom.
there is hope, but it is always shrouded in an ominous darkness and a tense feeling of optimism, that perhaps wendy will find lucy and everything will be alright. we as the audience can feel that unease and kelly reichardt has realized it onto the screen.
one of 2008's greatest films.
