Review of Wendy and Lucy (2008) by Brandon F — 30 Jan 2009
Wendy and Lucy is a slow and meandering film, in no rush to get anywhere, least of all to anywhere important. Tedious and lethargic, this respectable and at times even moving portrait of a life lived on the margins is nonetheless difficult to get excited about.
I admire films that donĂ¢??t feel compelled to create melodrama for the sake of melodrama; life is rarely perpetually exaggerated theatrics. But neither is it always dreadfully somber and mercilessly dull either.
