Review of Wendy and Lucy (2008) by Kim M — 04 Feb 2009
Michelle Williams is solid (did anyone think she was going to turn into the best actor from the Dawson's gang? I mean, it's not even close to a discussion), but there's not much to go on in this film.
It should heartbreaking but it's well established early on that nothing is going to go right for this girl. It's shot well from a cinema verite style and it's really held up by Williams but her character's not particularly strong (although she is believable) and the story is difficult to connect with (not because of the circumstances but because of the lack of depth).
