Review of Wendy and Lucy (2008) by Jonathan O — 08 Jul 2009
This film has the same writing & directing team as Old Joy, my favourite movie, so no pressure there then. While it's not as good as Old Joy, it is still excellent. Michelle Williams (Dawson's Creek, Brokeback Mountain) is superb in this as the jobless Wendy driving to Alaska looking for work, the film shows how easily a person can get pushed to the margins of society.
Lucy is her dog, who goes missing in her luckless streak. Another movie where not much happens, but I like that.
