Review of Welcome to the Jungle (2007) by Chase F — 07 Feb 2009
What the hell was this bulls***! THIS was supposed to be to new Cannibal Holocaust of the new millenium. Was it hell! It was literally bored for 30 minjs waiting for a bloody gorefest which I didn't get. Word of advice to the filmmakers of this: If you are going to try and top Cannibal Holocaust, make sure you include the landmark gore that the original had. If you can't do that, don't make the movie. I did expect better from the director of The Punisher and Gale Anne Hurd who produced great movies like Aliens, and Terminator produced this bunch of crap is beyond me why she did it. all this film really was is teenagers bickering at each other while being watched by cannibals. How stupid can they be? Eventually when they are caught, you don't really care for any of them and as they die, you kind of feel like they deserve it and the gore factor doesn't even match that of Cannibal Holocaust so what was the point of making this?
It takes an hour before any action happens and by that time I was really bored. I mean at least in cannibal Holocaust they had a reason for being up there as they were filming a documentry for TV, in this film though it's just a bunch of teenagers following up some myth which leads them into real danger that being a case of curiousity killed the human.
The only good thing about this film was how they took the infamous woman on a stake and re-invented it for this movie. That all I can say was good about this movie. A total waste of 75 mins.
