Review of Welcome to the Jungle (2007) by Jason E — 16 Nov 2008
"Possibly the most terrifying film of the last decade," it trumpets on the sleeve. Note the word POSSIBLY. That's like saying I'm possibly the greatest chicken impersonator in the world today.
Clearly I'm not. And this film is in no way terrifying. Nice idea, to update Cannibal Holocaust, sure, and the hand held camera work suits the story even if it is both a) tired and commonplace after Cloverfield et al, and b) implausible that they'd keep filming and have enough batteries.
Having two couples who don't get on is not a good idea as you soon tire of them, and what's the point in having a 15 cert cannibal movie when there's no explicit feasting? It's like a porn film without a cum shot.
Nice scenery though.
