Review of Welcome to Me (2015) by Andrew G — 11 May 2015
After winning the state lottery, a woman with borderline personality disorder quits her meds and decides to make her own talk show all about her.
Kristen Wiig heads up quirky, but flawed comedy, giving empathy and dimension to a thankless character. It's the supporting cast that shines brightest here. Joint MVP to Joan Cusack and a rare sighting of the sublime Jennifer Jason Leigh.
The story isn't all that engaging and the film does play as a series of sketches. The cast brings it up to par though and it is dotted with LOL moments.
Should have been better. Could have been a lot worse. A mild recommend.
