Review of Welcome to Me (2015) by Anthony K — 09 Oct 2015
Alice wins the lottery and decides to create her own talk show.
Alice has borderline personality disorder, she watches a lot of TV and sees a psychiatrist regularly with a small support group of friends and family around her.
One day, she wins the lottery and decides she wants her own talk show, all about her and replacing her psychiatric appointments with airing her issues on television. The resulting fallout creates new relationships and opportunities while alienating those that were originally there for her.
An interesting story, particularly considering Alice is slightly socially awkward. There's plenty of different things to be explored - especially the changing relationship between her and best friend Gina.
While listed as a comedy, I don't think I really laughed through the film. There's certainly plenty of awkwardness but the film sits more on the side of seriousness about Alice's condition and situation than actually being funny.
