Review of Welcome to Me (2015) by Tyler S — 03 Oct 2017
I wanted to stop 30min in and give it a star and a half, but like the car or train wreck everyone keeps using as euphemism, I had to keep going. Amazingly, I hated it less and less, and then began to like it more and more. It?s a fantastic show of acting by Wiig, and though talent is wasted from the rest of the cast, they?re fantastic supports nonetheless, and have their moments on the show here and there.
Okay...so to the depiction of mental illness... It?s not quite an accurate illustration of borderline personality disorder, but it?s good insight in to mental illness anyways (schizoaffective, maybe?). It?s not a mocking of mental illness (though it doesn?t lend absolute credence to it, either), though.
And can I say one more thing? It's nice to see Tudyk in a serious role.
