Review of Welcome to Marwen (2018) by Cvr T — 17 Jan 2019
Iâ(TM)ve been on the bottom side of more multiple person beatdowns than I can count and only one time did I join in for retaliation against one of those jum!pins , âWelcome To Marwenâ? had brought a smile to my face in regards that none of my beatdowns ever robbed me of my artistic ability or much my Already imperfect brain functions.
This film was more than your average âFeminist nazi agendaâ? flick thatâ(TM)s have film critics like myself mad that we ever purchased a ticket. The catalysts in the film built up to a movie going experience quite unlike any other. âMarwenâ? was essentially âToy Storyâ? for an adult audience with reality plays in the script to where one could walk out of it feeling as if they watched a two hour war propaganda movie out of the 40â(TM)s, except one that featured Janelle Monae in something other than a music video and a shout-out to foot fetishists that I believe would make Tarantino proud.
I clapped when Mark tossed those pills (a lesson to anyone suffering from âmental illnessâ(TM) such as mark or myself, all that shit is just a moneygrab - the true â? cure" comes from inside yourself), tears welled up in my eyes when Mark victimized himself as he recalled his infamous incident, and I laughed when Mark proposed to the object of his infatuation, Nicole as I thought back to my high school days (where my infatuation for females ran rampant) thinking âBeen there Done thatâ?.
The art was superb and you can really root against the antagonists in the film as if they were your own foes. Despite Markâ(TM)s oddities the writers made him into an easy protagonist to root for, especially for someone like myself who has went and goes through similar trials , I could cheer for these character the whole way through the film even if he did retreat from a court date to cozy up to a porn flick. I would and probably have done the same too. Thatâ(TM)s what makes â Marwenâ? a winner in my eyes : the relatibility between the lines of the quarkiness; that and the fact Zemeckis made it to where Mark was able to build Doc Brownâ(TM)s time machine linking âMarwenâ? to the list of other memorable films Zemeckis has had his hand in. Even though Mark my have lost some of his memory, I donâ(TM)t see why this film cannot have a positive imprint in the minds of those who have watched it. And as for the effects regarding the action figures, that and the storytelling was better than other film I have seen that has utilized Legos on screen.
