Review of Welcome to Marwen (2018) by Matt D — 29 Dec 2018

I was glad that I didn't let the many negative reviews of this film, mostly from critics, prevent me from seeing this film. It is a very unusual film and is probably not to everyone's taste, but I found it to be a very moving look into how a man who was traumatized so deeply attempts to comfort and protect himself thorough the fantasy world he creates.

Steve Carell continues to impress me with his is incredibly moving portrayal, the supporting cast are entertaining, and the special effects and animation - which are things I typically am not all that interested in - were pretty amazing.

The film made me laugh and cry, and think about the himan condition, all of which are things I look for in a good movie. So glad I caught this one!
