Review of We Were Soldiers (2002) by Andy C — 10 Nov 2008
As far as "war movies" go, this is a pretty decent one. It's based on true events which I always find more appealing and interesting. Mel Gibson as Lt. Col. Moore is good and the supporting cast also do a good job.
I wasn't bored and was drawn in to the story. This is a story focused on a small part of the Vietnam war in 1965. I learned that every real life soldier in the Platoon was represented by an actor and they even went so far as to find actors that looked like their real life counter-parts.
That alone is an interesting detail that sets this movie apart from other recent "war movies".
