Review of We Were Soldiers (2002) by Jeff C — 17 Apr 2011
I love historically themed movies, especially those involving war. There have been several good ones about the Vietnam conflict and this is another good one. My benchmark for films depicting the Vietnam war is Platoon.
While this one falls a bit short of that mark, it's still very good. Based on a true story, that being the first major battle of the American phase of the Vietnam War. The film does start off somewhat slow as you get to know the families of the soldiers, many of whom are killed later on in the movie, but once combat starts, it comes fast and furious.
