Review of We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks (2013) by Luc L — 15 Apr 2014
A genuinely gripping and informative documentary which begs to be watched much like the source material. We steal secrets documents the creation of Wikileaks, gives us a very great and varied insight into the life of Julian Assange and also an emotionally charged insight into famous whistle blower Bradley Manning.
This film is very long for a documentary and for what I thought about the source material, I felt it could be a bit long and laborious to sit through, however this film proved quite the opposite, I felt well educated on the events, I had a multitude of differing opinions, I essentially had my eyes opened and the running time flies through due to expert pacing and really strong contributors.
like him or loathe him Assange managed to help create an outlet for people to essentially gain access to the truth from the government and when young and troubled Manning issues him with a huge stack of confidential information, which is shocking to watch, you cant help but become invested in some level on this topic.
Gripping, well realised and very informative. a must watch for everyone.
