Review of We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks (2013) by Roxanne R — 15 Jan 2014
So interesting from beginning to end, this documentary will give you unbiased views from both sides of the controversy. Although I initially admired what Assange did to expose greedy and corrupt corporations, once he chose to target the military my feelings changed.
As civilians it is easy to judge the actions of our "top brass" but many are clueless as to what a war really entails and when dealing with the enemy it is survival of the fittest! Wars are never easy, casualties happen and lives will change.
As for Bradley Manning, the Army private whose disclosure of hundreds of thousands of U.S. military and diplomatic documents gave American officials a global case of heartburn, he was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
This gem is available on Netflix instant streaming and regardless of which side you take, it is a fascinating and eye opening story.
