Review of We Own the Night (2007) by Tom B — 20 Dec 2009
Oof. They clearly spent more time trying to figure out what to do with the plot outline than they did with the actual movie. Why are people like this even interested in making movies? This is about as corny and hackneyed as it gets...scenes and dialogues we've seen a million times before in other cop dramas, except the whole thing is filtered through a ridiculously oversimplified sense of right and wrong, along with an infantile celebration of violence.
Sometimes it's good to watch a movie by yourself. If anyone else hears you ask the screen "who talks like that? who thinks like that? who acts like that? who makes decisions like that?" that many times, they'd be well within their rights to order you to turn it off and go do something else. But if it's just you and the animals, you can heckle all the way to the end.
