Review of We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) by Dwayne R — 01 Aug 2013
'We need to talk about kevin' being the particular film that it is, is sure to be received with neglect from audiences devoid of the film's target one. Many would regard the film as 'artsy fartsy' whilst acknowledging that the performances are all realistic, they might consider this film boring and tedious.
The film is certainly risen by it's professional array of performances, yet the story is just as powerful without them. 'We need to talk about kevin' is an intense and frightening study of human nature, and is sure to frighten the maternal audiences.
This said it is NOT a horror film. Tilda Swinton carries this film right to it's end and although we empathise with her, we can also hate her at times for her coldness, but not as much as the title character, who provokes such hatred, we designate him as the immediate villain, motivating the story until it concludes, yet stays forever etched into our mind as a dark memory, explicit and horrifying.
