Review of We Don't Live Here Anymore (2004) by David H — 09 Sep 2004
Any film that really makes you think while watching it, criticizing the characters for actions they've done, I think is automatically great. It takes a lot to get into the movie that much, but Jacob Aaron Estes delivers in his first feature film. Mean Creek is a film like this. Everything in this film just fits, if that makes sense.
I don't have time to expand, but yeah! Great film.

I also saw We Don't Live Here Anymore which I liked a lot. It makes me wonder if there is a lot of stuff that goes on like this. Where you've got parents and their friends all fucking each other. It's kind of gross, but even before this movie I had wondered if that actually goes on, like with my parents and they're friends. They seem so comfortable with each other. And these thoughts went on years ago, and this movie just confirmed that those thoughts I had might actually be true, which is really gross. Haha.
This is a good movie, too. Great acting all around, nice scenery, good dialogue.
----------------------------.
I?d previously seen some scenes from Hero in my directing class, and parts were awesome, and parts I just got bored with. The movie was more toward the awesome side. I really enjoyed the entire movie, except for one scene. The fight on the water was just lame. But the entire movie is just insanely beautiful. Each scene has a distinct color, which really stands out.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a far superior film, though.
