Although We Bought A Zoo is pretty cookie-cutter (grieving parent, difficult relationship with pre-teen, precocious 5-8 year old child everyone loves, with a little bit of romance), the performances make it worthwhile, and even make up for the over the top musical score that oozes sentimentality.
