Review of We Are Marshall (2006) by Daniel D — 05 Nov 2009

Built on a foundation of stock characters and cliffhangers with obvious results, what came out of this film was not the visuals, but the spirit of this film that made it a great motion picture. This isn't just a football movie about "Winning means everything", or "Never lose hope", but confronting ourselves, fighting what we're afraid of doing and the means of being whole again.

The mix of different expressions of cheerful and disconsolate mood keeps the movie swinging, along with some good lines that makes the gladsome, but venerating ending meaningful. "We Are Marshall" tackles (get it?) a true heart-felt story that gets a solid nod from this reviewer.
