Review of Watership Down (1978) by Carly M — 31 Oct 2009
I must say, it's a generally good animated film which has quite beautiful animation and a nice storyline that is different for a family film.
However, having read the novel, I believe that some of the character development and chronological order was lost in translation when the book was adapted. Plus there were some Lapine phrases thrown into the script that audiences who hadn't read the novel would have understood!
Overall, a generally acceptable animated film. But with today's technology, surely one of the big film companies could update it in photorealistic CGI whilst staying truer to the source material?
