I was about 7 when I first saw this film, and I can tell you that the memory was not a pleasant one. 14 years later (after seeing an image of the film in a thread) I decided to watch it again, and was simply amazed at the depth, storytelling, and heartfelt message of this "childrens movie".
One of very few films I can say I legitimately learned a life lesson from.
